Easy 4-7-8 Breathing

Relax your nervous system

Are you living in a sympathetic state of fight or flight or a parasympathetic state of rest and relax?

Simply doing 4-7-8 breathing will help your body to move into a parasympathetic state of rest and digest. Living in a parasympathetic state will allow your body to heal.

1. Find a comfortable place to sit.

2. Place your tongue against the roof of your mouth or against the back of your front teeth.

3. Take a deep breath in and out.

4. Close your lips and inhale through your nose for 4 counts (one-one-thousand, etc.).

5. Then, hold your breath for 7 counts.

6. Exhale through your mouth for 8 counts.

7. Repeat for 3 more cycles or 7 more cycles.
